Some March
The most notable event in March that stands out from the others is the invasion of Iraq in March 2003 and the protests that took place around the world in the preceding and subsequent weeks. On the Saturday following, I attended a rally at Federal Plaza in downtown Chicago and I've included a few photos with those entries, including a photo of a TV that I took of a Bush press conference which has become iconic (at least for me) in terms of the memory of the event. On that same day in March 2011, the US invaded Libya. On March 19, 2013, the 10th anniversary of the invasion. I wrote, "Watched some of the videos from those days and it's interesting that there's no sense of context or nostalgia--it could have happened yesterday. Ten years is not sufficient time to see differences; You need at least twenty years--a generation."
